Meet your new Delburn Wind Farm Community Consultative Committee

The Delburn Wind Farm held its first meeting with the new Community Consultative Committee (CCC) to discuss construction of the wind farm in 2024.

The CCC is made up of individuals who live around the wind farm area and is Chaired by prominent Gippsland local, Barry Rogers.

Barry holds numerous leadership positions across the region including Chair of Food and Fibre Gippsland Inc, member of One Gippsland, Fellow of the Gippsland Community Leadership Program, Board Member Baw Baw Latrobe LLEN, Co-Chair Gippsland Youth Spaces Inc., Treasurer Warragal Regional College Council, member West Gippsland Catchment Authority Community Engagement Network, member of Gippsland Technical School Advisory Committee and a member of the Gippsland Community Leadership Advisory Board. Barry is a Senior Associate and professional facilitator with Aurium Consulting.

CCC meetings provide a forum for open discussion and valuable community input and will help shape updates on the construction program. Feedback will inform the project team of diverse community perspectives and concerns.

The initial meeting focused on the role of the CCC, how it will function and discussed meeting protocols. OSMI members presented an update on the wind farm construction planning, the application for planning permit amendments and permit condition requirements.

The Committee has been asked to review the Terms of Reference agreed to by the initial CSCC and provide feedback for the next meeting which will be held in November 2023.

Committee members were encouraged to share information from the CCC meetings with neighbours and friends and provide feedback, concerns and questions to the project team.

Committee members are keen to talk with the community, regardless of their views on the wind farm.

An open invitation to join the CCC remains for residents from Driffield, Delburn, Hernes Oak and Yinnar. Anyone interested in joining the committee is invited to email [email protected] or call 1800 676 428 to discuss what is involved.

People who live around the wind farm, including those who remain concerned are strongly encouraged to join the committee or reach out to one of the committee members and discuss their concerns.

The CCC is one of many avenues for community engagement which include other communications channels such as one on one meetings, telephone, email, e-News, social media and the website.
